Well, Im glad you asked... My name is Frank Inzerillo Jr. I am Italian on one side and Sicilian on the other (with a sprinkle of Portuguese to balance out the two). But wait... Italians and Sicilians are the same right ? (Not exactly, but that sounds like a great future blog post) I was a "foodie" way before the term even existed and this Blog is about my journey where I continuously learn and experiment with new recipes and test them out on my family, friends, neighbors and pretty much anyone willing to eat what I cooked.
I have multiple titles, husband, father, grandfather and engineer being the top 4. I would like to add chef to that list of titles however Google insists I am somewhere in between a cook and a chef.
A chef is an individual who is trained to understand flavors, cooking techniques, create recipes from scratch with fresh ingredients, and have a high level of responsibility within a kitchen. A cook is an individual who follows established recipes to prepare food.
After a bit of reflection on that Google definition of a chef I had 2 of the 3 qualifications met. I absolutely was trained to understand flavors, and cooking techniques (not formally but from my family) and I do create recipes from scratch with fresh ingredients. The one qualification that I did not possess was that I did not have a high level of responsibility within a kitchen. The home kitchen belongs to Terri my wife. It is her domain and I can only ever aspire to be a sou chef in Terri's kitchen. After careful reflection, I decided that the only practical way for me to claim that last qualification of a chef was to just build my own damn kitchen and in 2020, I did just that. I guess I am a chef after all.
